A passion for well-managed land
We are one of just a few Certified Professionals in Rangeland Management (CPRM) in the Central Great Plains.
About ORM
Our mission is what drives us to do everything possible to improve the health of the land. We do that by consulting face-to-face and virtually with landowners across the Central Great Plains, by removing years of brush encroachment through tree clearing, by reintroducing fire to properties, through speaking at events, and by clearing up widespread misinformation.
We are the leading land management company in the central Great Plains. Over the past six years, ORM has uphended the land management industry through on-the-ground management and consulting, backed by a wealth of knowledge and experience.
At Open Range Management, we walk the walk. We manage thousands of acres. We have a cattle operation and are avid hunters. We understand the costs and implications of land management.
History
The idea of Open Range Management was born in 2015 when founder Adam Gourley was tired of watching land across the central Great Plains being swallowed by brush, invasive species and landowners being fed misinformation by unqualified individuals.
He left the Oklahoma State University ranch he managed, started ORM, hit the ground running, and hasn’t looked back. Thankfully, hard work, satisfied customers, and word-of-mouth has done well for business. We have been expanding since the company’s establishment to meet the management needs of our clients. We never stray from our creed, which is to work hard and treat people right.
Adam Gourley
Certified Professional in Rangeland Management
Adam has over 16 years of professional experience in managing land, wildlife and cattle. He has a bachelor’s degree in rangeland management and a master’s degree in wildlife management. He was the Assistant Superintendent at the OSU Range Research ranch for nine years where he worked with some of the most renowned researchers in the world in rangeland and wildlife management. During his time at OSU he helped teach students the ins and outs of prescribed fire, he conducted hundreds of burns, worked with patch-burn grazing research, and played a crucial role in the ranch management. For his master’s project he wrote the book “A Practical Guide to Food Plots in the Southern Great Plains,” and conducted white-tailed deer trail camera surveys on thousands of acres. He has received the Big XII Academic Award, Young Range Professional, and Excellence in Range Management awards. He served as president of the Oklahoma section of the Society for Range Management, and speaks to landowners at various events. He’s one of very few CPRMs in the central Great Plains; this certification is required by many cost-share and conservation groups.
Blayr Gourley
Blayr has 15 years of experience in rangeland and wildlife management. While at OSU she received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications and a master’s degree in rangeland management. While working on her master’s degree she developed an educational website, “The Prairie Project,” that taught students K-12 about the prairie ecosystem. Prior to the establishment of ORM, she worked under the Oklahoma Extension Wildlife Specialist, where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has spoken at various outreach events on rangeland and wildlife topics. After OSU, she did contract work writing extensive fire plans for Air Force bases across the country. In 2018, she received the National Young Range Professional award from the Society for Range Management. Blayr has conducted hundreds of controlled burns and is passionate about rangeland and wildlife management. She has served on The Oklahoma Wildlife Society board, and was president of the Oklahoma Section of the Society for Range Management.
Contract Labor
We take our business seriously. We are very careful with who we hire as contract labor for our controlled burns. We hire people who are knowledgeable in the field with adequate experience. This ensures the name of Open Range Management upholds it’s quality reputation, and the landowner has the best crew on their property.
